Dagorhir uses costuming and weapons to promote an exciting medieval environment that will be fun for our participants. Good costuming adds flavor, color and personality to what would otherwise be just a sport. Basic costume requirements are simple: a tunic and leggings. We've included detailed instructions for making a simple tunic here. Many other websites, some of them linked from here, provide additional resources for medieval costuming.
Dagorhir rules require our participants use safe weaponry. Weapons are submitted to a mandatory safety check before every event, and our membership is extremely conscientious about the quality of their equipment. In more than thirty years as an established medieval combat organization there have been no significant injuries caused by a safe, checked weapon. Safe and padded weaponry allows for an all-out, hard-hitting combat system at relatively low cost.
There are several "How To" pages included here (on the left) that provide detailed instructions on building Dagorhir weaponry, including swords, arrows, spears, shields, and more. We have also included links to various designs that have been posted on the sites of Dagorhir Chapters throughout the country. Many alternate designs are allowed and in use, but the designs presented on this site are recognized universally as a Dagorhir standard and are recommended for safety and longevity.
